What Else Can I Do?

“What else can I do?”

If you are like me, you have watched the new Disney movie Encanto about 10,000 times and this song always sticks with me.

I love my job but I’m always wondering what else can I do? I always want to do better, change lives and grow personally and professionally. It’s one of the many reasons why I don’t stop learning and why I take on anything I can. It’s also why I have always been drawn to healthcare.

I don’t plan on ever leaving Gundersen Health System but I do plan on making a difference so I’ll continue asking “what else can I do” ❤️

You’re Going to Miss This

Have you ever heard the phrase “you’re going to miss this”?

Because I have.

But if you think about it, I think it’s a phrase for every single part of your life.

I can tell you that I miss being a teenager as I was carefree, I worked a part time job and school was easy for me. I played sports and I fell in love.

I also miss college because I met some amazing people and got to do my own thing.

Then I missed the dating life, engaged life and the married life with no kids.

The only thing I ever wanted to be in my entire life was to be a mom & now, some days I even miss the days prior.

I also miss when I was just an employee who punched in and punched out.

I miss our little apartment and our first home.

I miss our cat who passed away.

I miss being able to do puzzles, sleep in or eat whatever I wanted.

But I LOVE my life.

& it’s okay to miss your past.

But you also must not get stuck there.

Keep looking forward, keeping building a life that you will eventually miss, because that is what matters.

Love what you do, what you have and everything in between.

Did you know that I’m a diabetic? Most do.

Why?

Because I talk about it.

& in the last few weeks, I have had others reach out to me not once but twice to help them understand and get through a new diagnosis.

Did you know that I struggled with infertility? Most do.

Why?

Because I talk about it.

& since I was diagnosed in 2017, I have been able to help other women with their infertility struggles.

Did you know that my son has a heart condition? Most do.

Why?

Because I talk about it.

& I have grown a CHD family because of it.

Did you know that I’ve had two NICU experiences? Most do.

Why?

Because I talk about it.

& I have helped reduce the fear of new NICU moms or moms who may be expecting a NICU stay.

But why do I talk about it?

Because I don’t want anyone to feel like they are alone. I don’t want anyone to feel like they can’t talk to someone.

Yes, MANY may not talk about it. & that’s okay too. But I will, for you.
