Thankful

Today I am thankful.

I am thankful that I have a stable job.

I am thankful to work for an organization that is overly preparing for the unknown.

I am thankful to live in a country that has the healthcare that it does.

I am thankful that my family is not sick (please god keep it this way).

I am thankful for my wonderful husband who will be taking on a lot while my hours get longer every day.

I am thankful for my kids for giving me pure happiness when I get home.

So remember, in the midst of the chaos, be thankful for what your God, what your country and what your life has given you.

Uncertainty

The uncertainty of the coronavirus is what has everyone reacting.

& that is what we should be doing.

Reacting before we see our loved ones dying. Reacting before we get sick. Reacting before our hospitals run out of supplies or run out of room for the sick.

Facebook infuriates me right now.

So many people NOT taking this seriously.

So many people being outright stupid.

Everyone should be social distancing. Everyone should be closing “non-essential” businesses. Everyone should not be leaving their house unless they absolutely have to.

I understand that the uncertainty of getting a paycheck or having child care is freaking people out. I understand that having the necessary supplies to survive is making people go crazy at the store. & I understand that people don’t understand the “why” since it is not here in our backyard yet.

I promise, you aren’t alone.

But we need to prepare. We need to stop the spread of this virus. & we need to protect our city, our state and our country from becoming what Italy has seen in the past few weeks.

So please.

Listen to the government. Listen to the CDC.

This isn’t a hoax. This isn’t overreaction (maybe buying pallets of toilet paper is).

This is slowing the spread and lessening the curve so that out state and our hospitals can better prepare.

Every minute, every hour and every day with have more updates and more confirmed cases.

Make sure it’s not you.

Stay safe and healthy everyone. ❤️

Coronavirus

Time for me to rant about the coronavirus.

I understand that this virus is changing things and making life “inconvenient” for some but for 3 weeks (or more), deal with it for your family, for your elderly neighbor or for your healthcare workers.

So please, here are a few things to do:

1. Don’t go ANYWHERE

We are supposed to be “social distancing”. Which means don’t go anywhere you don’t need to. This includes grocery shopping (unless you absolutely need something), church, parks, the bar or any events that have not been cancelled (which they should be!).

2. Don’t get people together

There is a reason we are supposed to be social distancing, so why bring people together? If you care about anyone, do everything you can to not pass on the virus to them. This includes birthday parties (parties can be rescheduled!), going out to eat or inviting people over. I get it, you’re bored but I’d much rather be bored than sick or dead.

3. Pick up a hobby or do something inside

Still bored? Pick up a hobby or figure out something to do inside. Color, paint, draw. Do a puzzle. Buy a video game. Get Disney+ or Hulu. Or maybe spring clean? Do something but for the love of god, stay home and stay inside.

4. Quarantine Yourself

If you are sick, quarantine yourself. Lock yourself on a separate floor or in a separate room. & Don’t go to the doctor. Call them first. They last thing you want to do is spread it to the elderly patient waiting in the waiting room or the child you just passed in the parking lot.

5. Quit Whining

I get it.. this sucks. It isn’t ideal. But we are all going through it so suck it up and stop whining. As long as you are safe and your family is safe then there isn’t much else to complain about.

Rant over.
