Goodbyes are hard.
Whether it be a death, a move or just life changes.
Luckily none are forever and the last two can be temporary.
But that doesn’t make them any easier.
Today I said goodbye to two of my favorite residents. They started their residency when I started my new position in the Integrated Center for Education. I saw them almost every other week for 3 years. I got to know them very well. They became friends, not just colleagues. & now both are graduated and on their way to a career and a fellowship.
To say I am happy for them is an understatement. But I’m also sad for me & for Gundersen. These two residents made a lasting impression on not just me but on a lot of patients, attendings and families.
Some day I hope to see them again but until then, I thank social media, cellphones and lots of pictures to keep us in touch!
Good luck Kelli and Mark! ❤️
